Dr. Van Denend is a Senior Research Specialist at the University of Illinois Chicago, Department of Occupational Therapy. She is an occupational therapist (OT), with experience in the skilled nursing facility and home health settings. She has worked on several research projects related to multiple sclerosis (MS), including work on aging with MS, fall prevention and fatigue management. Her recent work and interests are exploring quality training and supporting administration of interventions and interventionists for fall prevention and fatigue management programs for people with MS. She has contributed to the delivery of Masters’ level OT courses, including Assessment Theory, Evidence Based Practice I, Geriatrics: Assessment and Intervention, and as a Fieldwork Educator. She plans to continue to support quality self-management programs for pwMS and supporting future occupational therapists in their delivery of quality, evidence-based services, especially for older adults and/or people with MS.
