Dr. Martin J. Szul, Ph.D. is faculty in the department of Microbiology and Immunology, College of Graduate Studies, Midwestern University, Downers Grove IL. He received his Ph.D. in Microbiology from The University of Tennessee-Knoxville (2015) and BS in Microbiology from UT-Knoxville (2008). As faculty member with a primary teaching position, Dr. Szul regularly gives lectures and leads small group studies on various topics withing the fields of infectious disease and the immune response for many programs at Midwestern University. Dr. Szul maintains expertise through his research as well as through regular attendance, participation, and presentation at professional meetings. His research interests include evolution, interspecies communication, and microbial community dynamics and has most recently presented an ongoing research project titled “Quorum sensing and virulence in Chromobacterium vaccinii” at the 2021 World Microbe Forum (ASM and FEMS).
